Aerial Inspections & Imaging for Forensic Investigations

Utilizing the latest in drone technology, Forensic & Failure Analysis has successfully gathered aerial photogrammetry solutions for evidence in many cases, particularly ones of a large scale.

In 2016, the FAA relaxed regulations regarding drone usage, resulting in an increased interest in the use of drones in the field of forensics. An aerial drone’s capabilities to capture images and get a “birds eye view” makes it a crucial tool in determining causation of a product or structure’s “failure.”

The DJI Mavic Pro Drone: Capturing a Clearer Picture

In our tool belt is the DJI Mavic Pro drone. This portable drone flies with a battery life of about 30 minutes, and is better suited for stability penetrating through windy atmospheres than competitor models. The Mavic shoots in 4K, providing a phenomenal camera cut – virtually no need to run the captured footage through a program like Final Cut to sharpen it.

In the past, trial juries would be limited to simple, two-dimensional photographs of the scene of an incident. Today – they’re able to “tour the entire scene” through the power of aerial imaging.

Forensic Failure & Analysis can utilized the Mavic Pro to aid with:

  • Gas explosions Investigations
  • Large Fire Investigations
  • Roof Investigations
  • Structural Failures
  • Utility equipment documentation
  • Building Envelope Investigations
  • Catastrophe Assessment
  • Underwriting Surveys

It is our commitment to mastering the latest tools of our trade to enhance the quality of our investigations and analysis and to ensure our clients’ cases are brought to a favorable conclusion. Contact Forensic Failure and Analysis to learn more about our capabilities.
